Hate to say it but ignorance isn't a get out clause. I.e. if a local authority changes a speed limit and you get caught speeding does it make it their fault that you didn't know??
That isn't a relevant example. If a local authority changes a speed limit there is a process they have to go though and they have to inform road users of the change.
If the donut confirm is turned off with out a players knowledge or by their choice then it is not fair and EA should take responsibility for any accidental donut use.
My point is ignorance isn't bliss. The option gets turned off, it doesn't make it ea's fault that the person spent donuts by accident much like you cannot complain that you got a ticket for not noticing a speed limit had changed.

If the speed limit on a road is changed with out notifications at the point of use i.e. traffic signs then speeding tickets would be invalid.
An actual safe guard which would have prevented the purchase has been removed and there is not notification at the point of making donut purchases.
EA would not day they removed the donut confirm on purpose so at the very least this is the result of two accidental actions. With blame on both parties it would be reasonable for EA to nullify the transaction by returning the donuts. EA would be within their rights to remove the XP and IGC awarded something I am sure the OP would agree to.
