Oh God, the Monorail is NOT a good idea
You do know your Springfield will still work fine if you don't have every item available dont you.

So what if the Monorail was actually an expansion. If the Monorail acted like the Krustyland shuttle and then had an animation of the monorail that played while it transported you to a new section of Springfield? The new section would be more land that plays just like the current Springfield but perhaps with some slightly different landscape features, and all of the items from one would be able to be placed in the other. I think this would keep the servers from overloading while also giving more land to spread out.
