Opinion: Everyone should buy at least a dozen donuts every year

Everyone should buy at least a dozen donuts every year. In fact, there should be a requirement to buy a dozen every year or you can only earn 3 free donuts per day.
"Congratulations, you've been playing a year! Now how about you pony up for some pink sprinkly things and support the game you like so much?"
And if you buy a bigger batch of donuts you get longer free periods. A boatload should get you lifetime playability and premier support. (And I have bought more than a couple of boatloads BTW.)
Just think how much money would go into the game. They might even... Gasp!!! Hire some decent support people and write some interesting Events.
And for Zod's sake - a Dozen donuts is just $1.99 + tax. I spend $8.99 + tax every month on Netflix and I don't even watch it every day. Though I do watch it almost every day. Anybody else watching Ozark? Man is that show good...
Now discuss while I go do my physical therapy for the day. (Donuts, not Ozark)
All hail Zod!

They did cap it at 1000 donuts a day for everyone, when they were trying to prevent hackers from adding more than 1000 a day. They quickly fixed it.

I think that still exist that hackers can't add more than 1k per day.

Just looked at r/freedonuts it is 5k per request. Idk why EA allows them to remain open and operate.

    It should be closed.

And here's me thinking it was a sponsored post for Krispy Kreme ... *shrug*

That idea I can get behind.
    I fully endorse that idea.

    Here here.

No... I mean... I'll have some here... Chuck some over the fence... 2m distance you understand.
  • Wow I didn't know so many people wouldn't wanna pay 2 bucks a year for a game you like to play I can understand people who have been playing for a long time and really have nothing left to do but who knows maybe one day if everybody payed a couple bucks they would put more effort into the game I'm very new so I don't know what it was like in the beginning I'm sure it had alot of support

I suggested the same thing a couple times on here over the years, but I feel like it falls on deaf ears.
When I started this game is consistedly with the top 50 grossing games, now it doesnt seem to make any lists.
You can trace the rise of donut farming with the reduction of quality in events. I meant if no one is buying donuts, no one is getting paid. I imagine they only have a few people working on the game now. We know they usually outsource animation work, and it sure seems like they are in desperate need of some coders to fix all those bugs that have been around for ages.
I would like to believe if they really nailed it with a couple decent events with a ton of items, people would pay and put money back in the game, but I think we are beyond that at this point.

At this point I feel like it falls in deaf ears due to the basic division.

Some have spent a lot on this game and others haven't.

Neither group is willing to pay, and for many reasons it makes sense. For someone who invested heavily into the game, why should they invest more?

For a free player who has gained independence and can gain donuts whenever they want, why pay into the system?

    That too makes sense.

However EA dug this hole, not us.

They introduced the XP Generator, they capped the level at 939 and Exp no longer requires millions upon millions that it once took for that one level....

The reduction of event quality can be drawn to many things, criticism especially... I do recall that during the first Introduction of the current *ahem* "event" format, it was met with very warm response. People wanted a break from 45+ day events where we had to wait for weeks before a new act began.

A simpler event was a breath of fresh air, but now that air is polluted with old cigarette butts and farts from the old man next door...
Going back to the old event style is what we want again!

Yet We go back to where we began....
They have various terms and services that allow them to modify the game as they wish, they could do many things, some of which affects the community in smaller ways... Others which would be terrible... Like adding advertisement space in the game....

Yet the purchase of donuts have been the driving force.

What went wrong is the greater question.

Did we not purchase the bundles of Shelbyville item?

    Didn't we buy Flanders RV?
    Didn't we buy Shelbyville?
    Hans Springfield?
The Car Lot and the Founder Statue?

They were good offers, good bundles...or at least they were.

    EA needs better bundles.

Back then we, yes both sides, those who had invested and those who farmed and never spent a dime found ourselves at strange point.

Those bundles were the only way we could obtain them, and some of us....many in fact did just so, did purchase them.

Sven Golly was the tipping point, the step backwards which made them rethink the idea, yet it is a good idea!

Just don't screw over the players who are willing to spend on this game by re-releasing those items for donuts.

However I feel.... Like a bit of a jerk, a bit of an ❤️❤️❤️❤️....

Allow me to offer a suggestion....

If you can't think of a bundle, one that you won't be.... enticed to re-release with no cash spending availability in order to promote fairness....perhaps some form of preview pass may be in order?

Example, we want Springfield Heights Pt. 3

No question about it, however how many people would be willing to pay in order to unlock it early?

This is what they call an Early Access Pass, yes?

Say the next part of Springfield Heights is unlocked by obtaining Nick Callahan
    https://static.simpsonswiki.com/images/thumb/5/5a/Nick_Callahan.png/800px-Nick_Callahan.png

Nick would usually be unlocked after Lindsey Naegle and Cookie Kwan, in this case this would have to remain in order to prevent game related bugs..... However, let's say the official release date for Springfield Heights Pt 3 is December.

You can then purchase Early Access with Real Money and unlock the quest early....say the earliest November of that year.

Players can then choose whether they'd be willing to unlock it early by paying some cash, or wait the thirty days until it's released officially throughout
Available obviously after PT 1 and PT 2 are completed and after reaching Lv XX (XX being a placeholder for whatever lv requirement they choose to implement)

In this case it's a fair idea.

Players can obtain the content earlier with a simple cash purchase, heck they can even point out any bugs to be fixed before it's officially released, but if players don't want to purchase they can wait until it's released for everyone else.

I use this example, mainly because people would absolutely pay for land expansion in Springfield Heights, as well as new content in that locale.

It's a simple suggestion, everyone has equal content, the access point is simply made earlier for this who pay.
It can become a slippery slope, but in the end few if any will agree on the idea of being required to purchase (more if they've already purchased in the past) donuts.

Edit: Filthy Autocorrect corrects my spelling and grammar at times like a kindergartner confuses homophones.

It is not that different to some of those TV ads for game consoles, "Game pack play 30 days early".
It's not my thing but it is for some.
