OT-how did I forget this?

I'm not much of a sports person, but I watched the video. He looks like he was a pretty cool guy. RIP.
On a side note, I think I'm reading too many sad posts right now. I didnt even know the guy and the video made me emotional.

I don't avidly watch NASCAR or F1 or MotoGP or anything like that, but those statistics don't lie.

I did play NASCAR and F1 games quite a bit though when I was a kid. And I watch the hell out of Top Gear ... this is quickly going off-topic.

...like how I managed to see some fatal Russian crash on YouTube where some truck veered off into on-coming traffic due to icy roads (presumably) and a semi-truck absolutely obliterated it. Eek.

Michael Schumacher is statistically the best ever
    308 starts
    91 wins
    68 pole positions
    155 podiums
    7x world champion-1994,1995,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004

But in pure racing talent, ayrton senna was the best ever, absolutely unbelievable quick especially in the wet and when you look at how many races Michael Schumacher has done, compared to senna. Senna had neally as many poles in almost half the period and his podium percentage is almost 50%, means almost half the races he enterd he finished at lest in the top 3. Mega impressive, but don't get me wrong Michael Schumacher was almost unbeatable in his prime.

  • Marquez rode brilliantly last night, bit of a controversial move on the last corner. Marques was well on the inside, clearly had track position and Lorenzo turned in on him, but in saying that, Marquez was going in way to quick and if Lorenzo wasn't there, he wouldn't have made the corner, so I hope nothing comes of it penalty wise as I say It was just a race incident. But in term of rider, I hope pedrosa is champ this year, as he deserves it he has had such bad luck in the past few years, coming of the bike and getting injured. So I hope he gets it, don't know what's up with Rossi though? Doesn't seem to have the pace to keep up with Lorenzo.

i didnt see the race (why did i give up my DVR :-( ) but i did see the clip. looked like marquez came in a bit hot and desperate i agree. hopefully lesson learned. and yes, poor pedrosa has been in the shadows of champions for too long.

i was wondering how he would stack up against schumacher if still alive. would he have de-throned him as the michael jordan of F1?

Oh yeah he was just faster than Schumacher. Schumacher needs the best car or near the best, to be quick and win. While senna could basically win in anything, they have raced against each other from 1991 when Michael Schumacher first came into the scene and up until his death. People think and including senna and Williams, accused Schumacher and Benetton for running an illegal traction control system, which have Schumacher the edge. Senna was supposed to join Ferrari in 1996 instead of Schumacher, so who knows what would have happened. But I've seen some purely fantastic performances from Schumacher aswel, finishing 2nd in the 1994 Spanish gp while stuck in 5th gear and his 13wins in a season in 2003 just pure dominance in that perspective.
  • If you watch this you can ride a lap around Monaco in 1988 with ayrton senna

And onboard with Michael Schumacher in Monaco 2004

  • Looking forward to Monaco in a few weeks. NBC is airing it nationally. Always an exciting race.
  • Yeah definatly sorts then men from the boys, one of my favourite tracks to.
  • Dancing in the rain, he was a wet weather specialist, that's why he just danced his car around in the wet, had a better feel for the limit of grip compared to any driver I have seen, truly unbelievable. I remember the 1993 European gp held at donington, he started 5th, got a bad start and dropped to 7th, he caught and past everyone in the first lap and was in the lead, it was bucketing down that weekend and he truly showed us just how good he really is
