I can personally understand that, for the people who have been playing since the beginning, owning things such as the Mapple store is somewhat of an achievement to say "look how long I've been playing this game". Giving everyone access to that kind of ruins it for the players who were here from the beginning.

Its a bit of a tricky one, really. I think if they did decide to bring older content back, the old players who have had the items since the beginning should be rewarded some unique decoration to prove they've had them all along (rather than purchased them new).
