Personally speaking, I think it's quite nice for the folk who've been playing this game since the re-launch to have a couple of little rarities that newer players don't have. In a weird way, it sort of feels like a little thank you from EA for having stuck with the game for so long.
If they could just leave the Duff Racer as a one time only trinket that would be grand.
I'm pretty sure the Duff Racer is an item EA could sell for 500 donuts, and actually get lots of sales out of it. I'm cynical. I think businesses with a sense of loyalty to their older customers are a thing of the past. Boy, do I remember when that used to happen. Happy times. But it's all about money now.
What about a system similar to the way the d?cor of the Krustyland Shuttle gets fancier and fancier as the player advances? After, say, a certain number of months played, some iconic item has a skin available for it to signify how long a person has been playing? In the same way that we turn on Christmas lights ... Like the dome of City Hall would be bronze after six months of play, then silver, then gold, and yadda yadda.
Then, keep doing that at interims. Perhaps every six months. Credit the players with whatever time they already put in, so original players would naturally start out with a great look, that everyone else can strive for. We'd never actually catch up, because the older players would keep moving forward to the next style. But if YOU, for instance, start out at the platinum level, ill see what i can get when i reach that. Meanwhile, you move on to the next one.
That one thing could be the way to let visitors know. :)
Dumb? Or?
