people don't bother with this right now if you want to continue earning money and xp with the farm.
wait until the event starts then plant your corn if you want. You can also wait for people that speed up the initial tasks to ask them if the farm is used during the event.
i am continuing with triffids over and over until i hear otherwise.
i can always store the farm to cancel that task if i need to so i can plan corn and get the high money and xp pay out.
