1: My iPod is 2nd Gen and can't go past IOS 5.1.1, so it still uses the old method:
Double tap Home button
Swipe through the open applications in the menu bar
Touch and hold app icon until red minus signs appear
Touch red minus sign
2: I tried that.
I'm actually amazed the game runs at ALL on the old thing, but it runs surprisingly well with only a little visible lag on certain actions. - btw that message you've not to worry about, if you closed like you just wrote, it will appear anyway cause you switched devices.
- You need to make sure it syncs when you leave. So leave your town by tapping the neighbours button.
- wadebearRetired HeroSo...
Android: Hit neighbor button, wait for neighborhood to appear, swipe up edge of screen to get controls, hit home button, hit active apps button, swipe app away.
IOS: Hit neighbor button, wait for neighborhood to appear, hit home button, double tap home button, touch and hold app icon, hit red minus sign.
Okey doke. I'll try that. - The message means nothing. Log out if you want each time. If you ever get where it starts from the beginning, don't stress. Just shut your device off & when you turn it back on all will be fine
- Just make sure that the last thing you see is a loading screen with "synchronising", and you should be fine. You can trigger that either by going to KL or by going to the neighbours screen and back. After seeing that, don't do any more tapping, just exit the game. You should then be able to use your other device without seeing the warning.
Another way to do it: if you do see the warning and still have your original device handy, leave the warning up and then start the game on your original device. It should immediately synchronise and will then show a popup saying it's now safe to use the other device, and will then stop at the login screen. At that point tap Home or something to exit without logging in, and then you can tap OK on the second device and log in. - wadebearRetired HeroWell, I still couldn't get it to not give me the error messages, but nothing seems to be messed up.
The point of the exercise was to be able to safely get my Springfield onto my iPod so I could get into the iTunes store and finally use up the $79 in iTunes credit that's been sitting there for the last several years - ever since I put 'iTunes Gift Card' on my Christmas wish list. I expected maybe $10 or $20 dollars worth at most and wound up with $80! At the time all I wanted to buy was the expansion packs for _The Creeps_, which became my go-to game for years. Such a long time in fact that by the time I got bored with _The Creeps_ my iPod was so out of date that nothing else I considered buying would run on the thing. (Plus my vision has gotten so bad that focusing on it for any length of time gives me a splitting headache.)
I'm back on my Nexus 7 with enough donuts to make some reasonable Premium purchases - so I did! I only had 4 kids (just got Martin yesterday) so I bought Jimbo, Sherri & Terri, and Kearney to ramp up my Trick-or-Treating. But most importantly I bought the Ray Gun and shot down the blasted flying saucer that was tweedeling across my screen every couple of minutes!
Thanks all for the help and Happy Tree House of Horroring to you.
