To be fair, this is not the first time, during the last event (music festival) you could speed up certain tasks that generate event currencies... I think it might actually be intentional, it certainly helped in that event and will help here, as sometimes, I can't get the exact time to come in and reset and have been frustrated in previous events where I've had five minutes to go and then not been able to look in for maybe another two hours..
