It shouldn't really be a surprise that this Christmas event would be a different format because it was last year's Christmas event that introduced the 4 act/week format but at least that event had a bit more different to the other events after May. The Christmas events have also been 4 weeks for the last 3 years (4 if you count 2015s 3rd act as a baby or new year act instead). We're more likely to get something different next year instead. At least they are still releasing new content in the game but not as much as they did in the past.
