I can still remember under the old tsto format, I couldn't see the future at all. Based on the bonus level up and donuts from visiting friends, I can see myself a very old man before I could earn enough donuts to buy more premium stuff. Anytime there is a fault where I think one donut was not credited from friends visit, I would be upset.
When I lost a few millions during blood mobile harvesting when the game crashed, I will go cold as it took a long time to earn them back. I just continued to play without thinking so much and focus on raising cash and mulitpliers.
Things got better when they changed the format. I think the new players wouldn't feel that terrible as compared to the early players
