Redesign stalled...

I don't think I would have the time, motivation or gumption to redesign my whole town. I do bits at a time. Kudos to you for trying. I'm sure it will look great eventually.

I want to redo my residential buildings but I am scared to death RR.

I did a massive redesign a couple of weeks ago. I stalled out when I got to the residential area and ran out of ideas. I've been messing with it ever since and now I'm happy with it. I've designed it around a lake.

Mike - I feel safe in saying that we've all been there. Those of us who have stored everything away, filled with the excitement of redesigning. Then get into the middle of it and realize what a massive undertaking it truly is. I just stopped, let it sit for a litlte while, then went back to it and eventually got it where I wanted it.
  • Mike, that actualy made me laugh because when I first logged into your town I thought, "Man, NICE town square!" ... loved what you did with the Town Hall.

And the Mapple Store with the chain link cattle-call line-up outside? Genius!

Then I got down to the Southeast corner of your Springfield where it looked like a tornado had picked up every other building in town and dropped them and thought, "What the *??" (No seriously, I figured you were in the middle of a redesign.)

Long way of saying, I really liked where you were going with your town so don't get too discouraged and carry on. You even inspired me to start tearing up parts of my city and rebuilding them.

I think this is pretty much where I'm at now. I might just restore a modicum of order to things and leave it be for a while until inspiration hits me anew.

    Anyone else have redesigner's remorse?

yes...i did a redesign this past weekend but i only did about 1/3 of my town. im too scared to go in depth any more than that. i just dont have enough really good ideas (or motivation) to do anything super creative.

Hey, thanks for the kind words. It does make me feel slightly better about having messed up my previous design.

I too look at the southeast corner of my town and think "what the f' is going on here?" Unfortunately, that blight has also started to spread to the northeast....

Stick with me folks. Order will get restored eventually....

I have similar issues. Finally just put everything I was having issues with placing into inventory until inspiration strikes. Currently just fine tuning how the characters roam.

Sandra's Village, Krusty studio, and the crematories are all now working properly as pass though zones with only 1 square of road.

I'm in the exact same place you're in. Finally bought the land and did a preliminary design on paper.

It started out well. My city center, Burns manor, NW and NE areas were coming out as planned. Once I got to my commercial area, I hit the roadblock. What I had on paper just isn't translating well in my town. And as someone else mentioned, my residential area looks like a category 4 tornado blew through.

I'm mostly leaving it sit for a while - see if some inspiration returns.

Sorry to all my friends! My town is in a bit of a shamble now, but I'll muddle through it.
  • Great... Now I'm afraid to do a massive re-design on my town!

Yup me too. Bought some more land and now regret it. Worst thing is that I tried to have will-power and just keep it the way it was. I told myself I haven't even seen the latest version in spring/green so don't mess with it!

But I started moving things around and now I don't like it. There are a few spots I don't want to change because they have tons of shrubs and other deco and It would take a long time. That's the other thing, I shouldn't be spending as much time as I am, I have things in life that I should be doing (life-ruiningly fun!)

The more I move around the more I wish I had left it alone. And the attempt at redesign also makes me wish for more residences or shops.
  • Am waiting for the snow to melt before i redesign. Its too monochromatic right now
