Rush times for free

I had my whole town on 60 minute tasks yesterday and with approximately 6 minutes and 10 seconds left I still had to pay to rush. Can't say the exact moment the rush became free but it was right around 5 minutes left. If you assume it changed right at 5 minutes left then the 60 minute task becomes free after 55/60 minutes or 91.66% of the job is completed. If I apply that assumption to a 24 hour task then it means they would become free with around 2 hours left but I don't think the free rush is available that early on a 24 hour job so maybe the rules are different depending on the length of the task.

  • They only become free after 2h and 10%. I checked using Apu's 7d task. I hoped they'd give at least up to the last 2 Donuts (that's 4h, people) for free.

It's 10% of the time remaining:
    30 min: 3 min
    1 hr: 6 min
    2 hr: 12 min
    4 hr: 24 min
    8 hr: 48 min
    10 hr: 1 hr
    12 hr: 1 hr 12 min
    24 hr: 2 hr 24 min

While many of these are correct (personally verified) the 24 hour one is not. I've had some characters on 24 hour jobs and was checking at 2 hours 24 minutes and they were not rushable for free. At least before today's update. I don't know if that changed it or not.
Ah, okay, I personally haven't done any 24 hr tasks since this started, so I was just assuming it followed the same pattern as the rest.
  • This may sound daft, but do we still get 100% of what should be the payout/multiplier if we rush a job? I can't see why we wouldn't, but curious to see if anyone has kept an eye on this.

Confirmed - my 24 h quest shows 2h 20min to completion and the rush still costs donuts. Will try to watch as much as possible to try to catch the switch to free rush.

Good question! I really haven't checked! Will try to check today
  • OK, caught the 24-h changeover.

at 2:00h left, it costs 2 donuts. At 1:59, it's free.

    New Working Hypothesis:

"Tasks are rushable at 10% time remaining, up to a 1:59 cap.

Can anyone add supporting evidence or disprove the hypothesis?
  • I've rushed 24 hr jobs with 1 hr 45 remaining. But this didn't apply to the farm or radio station. No rush was available for those.

    Handy addition. (Thanks!)

For people the only tasks I can think of that are longer than 24 hrs are Apu 7 day shift and Brandine 90 day birth.

Cletus farm has the 90 day corn, Burns manor, Krabapple are 48hr, spinster appt 36 hr

Anyone got any of these near done ?

As far as I can tell, there is not rush available for any building payouts. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

In addition to Apu's 7d task and Brandine's 90 day task, there is Wolfcastle's 36 hour task and a few more 36-h tasks (Homer's donut torture task?)
  • thanks to this post i e actually been able to use free rushes to complete the in game storylines
