Uh, yeah. There is something, it's called multiple Origin accounts. A lot of people on here have multiple towns, and multiple accounts. They also, usually, have multiple devices to play with these other towns.
This used to be a lot more seamless, jumping from town to town, account to account, but EA added a layer of security that has you inputting your age in every single time you logged out and attempted to log into another account before actually getting to log in.
Multiple towns on a single device would make an already large, resource heavy app, even more of an albatross. It would become even more of a behemoth than it already is.
I agree that the game itself is resource heavy!
But Are you thinking that if, for instance, I have several elaborate towns and play all of them on the same device, it will take up resources on my device and cause my device to be more overloaded?
Because that's not how it works. (If one of the gurus out there can correct me if this is all wrong, I'd love to hear.)
The actual files that are stored on my device for each town consist of nothing more than text files listing the items and indicating placement, rotation, etc of that item in my town. When I open/reload a town, it "synchronizes" that text file with what's on their server and calls up the images. When I move to the friend screen, the graphics that are stored on their server are called up again and I see my friend list. When I return to my town, the server re-syncs and I "see" my town. An elaborate town takes longer to render all those images onto my screen.
When I switch to another town, the first town is stored as plain text and the new one loads.
Did that make any sense? Was that as confusing as I think it was? I'm confusing MYSELF. Ack.
In short, the text files stored on my device are very, very small. Plain text. A few megabytes.
I can have dozens of towns and the effect on my device is minimal. There are no actual image files on my device(s), which would add anything significant to the resource-heavy part of the game. I have many many towns and my device storage doesn't change at all. When I load one elaborate town it affects my device, but when I leave the town my device no longer retains it.
:)
EDIT TO ADD: I
hate that they keep asking my age. I put in a random age each time. 68. 85. 92. 21. Anything higher than 14 will work, I guess? I'm gonna go use "276" and see if it lets me play. :)
