I noticed there are many items in the shattered tokens section that are in the yearbook. Is it therefore better to save up tokens and get the items from the yearbook first?Also, how often do shattered tokens appear in daily prizes and what is your strategy regarding shattered tokens? Any advice?

Tokens are very rare. I save mine for spending only on the unique items. I got everything from the yearbook first.

There are also some items in the shattered dreams box that will break up bundles and make it impossible to get the other items unless you’re able to get them one at a time. I suggest cleaning out the yearbook first. (I.e. Mayan bundle with Homer, Marge, and Mayan god)

The yearbook so far seems finite. I cleared it and so I never see it again. The SD box is usually offering only non-uniques to me, which I once wasted 8 tokens on and still did not get one of the 2 things I was hoping for. So that taught me they are a waste of tokens. Unique items are not offered between every new event, but when they do come up I am glad to have several tokens on hand so I dont miss any. I now save all SD tokens for future uniques

By a weird coincidence I got the Mayan bundle from the yearbook very recently

So the verdict is that I should store up the shattered tokens? Is there a limit to how much you can store? Will the yearbook contain more items in the future?

When the Shattered Dreams box kicks in it checks what you own. If you have only a few items you've not yet got and at least one of them is unique it'll start with a small selection so check how many items you get and if you think it's worth it. As soon as it can't find a unique item to offer it'll be full of a whole heap of repeatable items and they're probably not worth going at unless you have a whole heap of tokens and don't mind paying to go and get more.
Not sure yet, but it looks like they've started looping the themes, so if the boxes are as long-lasting as the Yearbook you can wait until they come back round I think - but who knows except the devs . . .

The boxes are between events so before or after whatever update includes black friday but not while that's happening
