Stored Characters' Quests Kicking Off

When I logged into the game a short while ago, two questlines kicked off for characters who I had purchased (unfortunately, from mystery boxes in the past) but had never placed in my game, because I didn't want them there. (One was Lucille, who creeps me out big-time, and the other was C.H.U.M., because I didn't have a place to store the building/decoration he comes with.)

Had this happened to anyone else? Do you think it might reverse itself with the next update, if I don't place the characters or do anything else? Or are there any other fixes for this that you know of? I'm not happy.... :(
