It's because of the new device. Trust me. This event is managing to slow down even my iPad Mini 2, and you don't want to know how much it's slowing my other devices. When I have a pending Daily Challenge or a bunch of characters on a wandering task (Kids hunt for presents) they get so bogged down I can barely scroll.
