The downside of friending total strangers

You do know that symbol originally has nothing to do with those nasty people? They stole it from a peaceful culture and is still used as a peaceful symbol.

I saw some guy write "f--- you" really huge in the middle of his town. Maybe it was intended for someone specific but it didn't say...kinda felt like he was being disrespectful to neighbors. Never went back.

That one is pretty bad though...that person must not want neighbors around for long either!

ETA: I know this symbol means something else when reversed. My Bohemian great grandparents had this as a hex pin (going the opposite direction) before WWI and it's also the sign that Buddha has on his hands so I looked it up. Nope you were right to be concerned. This is the reverse of that hex which the Nazis adopted. Unless this person is thoroughly confused, it means nothing good!

Unfortunately the Nazis ruined this symbol, it was a religious symbol before that.

Very unfortunate! Perhaps just a kid who doesn't understand the full import of what he's done. Let's hope that someone educates this person.

Yes, I do. And just like if he/she is joking, it doesn't really make things better. In the Western world it is clearly associated with that particular group, and when you go on an English language site asking for friends, you have to assume you're mainly dealing with Westerners (the request also included a version of "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" ). The best thing you can say about this person is he or she is being insensitive.

From a design viewpoint, it's poorly done (this is a rare instance in which I speak negatively regarding someone's work). Each of the 4 "ends" need to extend one more section. For shame.

just like how the pentagram was first a symbol for geometry, then it became a religius symbol, then cristianity demonized it. now the most evil symbol in the world is the $ symbol, it symbolyses illumanati, NWO, central banks, wars for money and meany other nastys. which before 1913 it symbolized money (it still dose but has lots else behind it now)
