The future of TSTO

My, what a gloomy scenario. But it won't die-- soon, anyway. The show's been on for 24 years, so there's plenty of content left to add. And it's been quite profitable, so the incentive is certainly there for EA will be to keep it interesting. The challenge will be how to attract new players to balance the attrition of the old ones.
  • The game has yet to come to Windows Phone and Desktop. So there are still a large number of potential new customer base yet untapped.

Using World of Warcraft as an example, it's still going strong. The more people has invested in the game (time+money) the more they are likely to stick around and continue playing.

Hardware limitation isn't a problem as new hardware releases are still getting more powerful exponentially.

I realize the last thing the writers want is for Lisa and Bart to progress into their teens, but there has to be more 'progression' if fans don't eventually get a serious case of the 'Meh's'.

Um-- the show is twenty-five years old! They're not going to tinker with it at this point. If it ceases to be profitable and/or interesting to the creative team, they'll end it.
