The new Premium is er.......... Actual money.

Isn't it about time now that we stopped kidding ourselves that Donuts are the premium currency over igc anymore?

Now that even the mini-events come with a "Free with a purchase of Donuts" character I think it's clear that the new Premium currency is the money in your bank account.

Donuts are more of a crafting currency now, as most of us have KEM farmed or Bloodmobile/Rat Trap Trucked to earn as many as we need, if we're kind we could call it a sub-premium currency maybe?

As for the lowly igc, well this latest event doesn't contain a single item available for purchase with igc.
It's used for buying the basic items when you're starting up a new game but then it's redundant other than for buying items to craft donuts, hence why so many of us are sitting at the cap.

I'm not so much complaining, I totally get the market forces at work in order to make it worthwhile for EA to keep the game going. I just felt like it had hit a tipping point and needed to be acknowledged.

Look forward to all your thoughts.

  • . . . and a little thunk for EA's accountants to ponder -
Would you rather sell a thousand ten dollar items or ten thousand two dollar items when it costs the same to make one as it would to make a million ??

Interesting economies of scale that I can only guess at. For @4junk3000 no item price is tempting. For me I wouldn't blink at spending the equivalent of a dozen donuts (ie $2USD) on pretty much anything. My last purchase was a few weeks ago. I can't even remember what it was (I think it came with the purchase of a dozen donuts). But upwards of $5 the item has to be something pretty special.

For others, they're happy to drop ten bucks (and more) on exclusive items.

Maybe EA are getting their pricing spot on?
  • The trouble is it is easy for many players to KEM farm for donuts. So obviously EA need to make their money somehow otherwise the whole game becomes freemium
  • As I've already stated: I think you should have to buy at least $2 worth of donuts every year or they cap your daily donut production.
  • Pay attention?? :o

I AM paying attention. But that's all I'm paying. My comment stands as is. I've always played for free and the day i cannot play for free is the day i stop playing. I don't buy games.
  • I have played for years. And I've spent $10 during that time. More than some, less than others. I've never judged anyone by how much money they spend on this game. I'm more interested in how much time players spend designing their towns. People used to be proud to share their clever designs here.

Last i checked, i wasn't stealing game content. EA offers this game to us to play for free. There's never been an obligation to spend real cash, which is a feature of the game I've always appreciated. But people like DJ Mike can tell me how i don't count a few more times. That's real classy.

Thanks, @lucienleon519 , for a more respectful perspective. I appreciate it.
