The Real Problem With Lack Of Level Updates

The idea EA is not doing level updates anymore seems odd. Introducing the xp collided then dropping any reason for it's use, especially a use that gets them donuts, seems unlikely. We've been through level droughts before, and I honestly think the reason for this one is EA are planning some big stuff that requires time. The recent updates have been VERY simple, even the casino update doesn't have much in the way of New gameplay. What's the point of giving us more opportunities to get donuts if we have less content to spend them on?

But maybe that's just the optimist in me.

Yes. Wait, no. Wait, what was the question again?

    :P
  • For even the best equipped towns, donut farming with the xp collider is equal to about 1 donut per day. Not exactly game breaking.

BTW, is M0na a curse word in some language?

    beh didn't show up right.

EA does not want players with $100+ million to reset their XP meters to exchange for donuts.

Hear, hear! ... My next XP meter reset is 3 million XP just to earn 3 miserable donuts!

    Gimme DONUTS, quick!
  • I'm at 10 million, and have been there since Nov 10. 1 donut costs about $1.8 million for me (a little less than what I can haul in per day). That's what I mean by non-game-breaking.

I feel like over this time of year, the level updates are more rare. They seem to kick up during the Spring/Summer and die out in the Fall.

This is great for us Southern Hemisphere people :) That means we get lots to play with during our winter!

Still, having snow appear in the Christmas add-on every year still feels real weird. Christmas is about barbecues, beaches, rivers and hiking! ;)
  • I don't mind the gaps in level updates. But what I don't care for are the length of some of these mini events. The Christmas ones usually last way too long, while some others don't last long enough. There's got to be a balance somewhere.

It has been a long time since an actual Level Update in Tapped Out. I have been saying since January that I think Level Updates will be further in between due to the XP Collider. EA does not want players with $100+ million to reset their XP meters to exchange for donuts.

Our last Level update was on November 10th 2015 (nearly 4 months ago). We have had Thanksgiving, Black Friday, SH 2, Winter, Much Apu About Nothing, Deep Space Homer, Tailgate, Valentines Day, Redwood and the current Casino event.

These are all "mini event" or "event" updates. Once they are finished, the items are no longer available. There hasn't been a new permanent item released to the store since Springfield Heights 2, on 12/2/15.

I am an everyday premium player, this issue will not affect me but new players will join the game and they will see these items and feel left out. The issue of having re-released items has always been a topic here on the forum, but now that the "Mini Event" is kinda taking the place of regular Level Updates, this issue will only increase.

    Am I wrong?

this is my quote from the "Why Do We Want Lv 60 So Badly" thread

Barney was a free character during the first(?) Xmas but now hes 250 donuts, yes its a business it needs to make money and yes he is worth it but, 250 donuts? a little much for a once free character.
    is maggie still available?
or will she be implemented as a premium character later on (given the fact that she produces donuts i wouldnt argue that, but still she is a simpson)

that in a nutshell is MY only 1 and true argument for level updates, it practically guarantees 1 Freemium and 1 Premium character per level, an event can offer many free characters at first, but the second time around or the next time they're released dont be surprised if they have a price tag on em.

As long as central characters are freemium and certain characters are premium i feel there wont be an issue, if maggie and Mo-na Simpson remain freemium it should be okayish, but the second Mother simpson goes premium i'll pitch a fit, she is homers mother, that would seem wrong in so many levels.

secondary issue: its gotta be worth it. i wouldnt pay donuts for lisas redwood skin but i defintely would pay for Jesse Grass (more than worth it in my opinion)
Witch marge skin? totally would pay donuts
Wizard martin? its literally a hat and cape added to his normal clothes (kinda like in the episode, although his bender costume woulda been better) so no, its kinda worth it for its visual task with comic book guy, but they are both needed for monorail so i have very little time to use it (bad hindsight in my part)

I would hate to have to pay donuts for Radioactive man and Fallout boy, but if i have to i will, i'll gladly do a task 1000 times, or worse yet spin a wheel but to pay donuts for something that WAS free?
At least couple it with something, id ont know maybe im ranting.

I realize its a company, its trying to make money and its aiming at the newer audience trying to make them go premium, but you need to realize the whales have feelings to, poke it the right way and you may get some Ambergris poke it the wrong way and a Viking will come in and steal the white whale carcass from captain Ahabs boat.

You are wrong there. The last permanent item was the redwood tree and the woodchipper.
