The spotlights..

I wish the new spotlights could go straight up, or would just go straight up. I cant get the angles right on them as they are.

I just wish that when they're set in opposite directions across from each other the spotlights would align correctly. It's maddening.

When i place the lights, I'm not looking at where they sit on the ground. I'm looking at where the light beam is positioned. So they may not be symmetrical on the ground, but the beams still look most appropriate.

Maybe this pic will explain. See how the lights are not actually across from each other, but kinda offset.

Placing these actually took some time because of when moving the lights the beam goes off. It's very trial n error, but when you get it right you just know it and it's very satisfying to complete a balanced design.

Could be me but I think your placement of the flowers also makes it look less "off". :D
  • If you really want spotlights that move, bring the Academy Awards producing building into your casino area, then keep someone working in there all the time. The lights on top of it rotate, making for a cool addition to any casino area. I used the Dupes sign in front as well, adding to the casino look.
  • I know I don't have the lights evenly spaced, but it is the only way to get them all to point at the same spot. And with that it looks like there should be a fifth position for another light behind it.

  • They didn't bother me before, but now I can't stop thinking about them.

I've noticed that when I'm in neighboring Springfields, I can turn on spotlights, but not off, and I can change the multicolor spotlights from any color to pink (but not back again, and to no other color). I wondered if this actually affected my neighbors' Springfields (or mine, should one of my neighbors do the same to me), so I logged into an alternate account and messed with my spotlights. Turns out it doesn't actually do anything permanent. So mess around all you like.

I discovered this as well and started a thread on it, someone in the thread asked me the same question, do they stay on in neighbors town or just during your visit. I tested with a feeder town and sadly they do not stay on for the neighbor, only for your visit. Imagine if we could turn them off.

I saw this in your town Dan and thought it looked cool! I'd like to do the same when I remember where mine is.
    ;-)

PS when are we planting another polo field?

Thank you for this. Bumping in case others are designing as well. Wouldn't have gotten the placement right without this how-to.
