They do keep a record of this stuff, I just think that most of them don't know how to access it.
So it should be fairly simple for the devs to write a routine to parse all our game databases and check for missing donuts. Bought + won - spent = number missing.
Interesting... I can't imagine them doing this for millions of players, though. Seems like it would take too long.

Your game database is updated every time you do anything. They could probably look at it and tell you what task every character is doing. A program to search
everyone's database and come up with a missing donuts figure would probably only take a few seconds to run.
The rep who asked you how many donuts you lost didn't have time to sit there and add everything up in your database (if they knew how to call it up).
