While I can understand the benefit of doing is that way, in some of those situations, it does not need to checkered. They will walk any distance they want through anything. I had a square of road in the middle of a pond and they had no problem with walking off my road, over the water, and onto my island. Sadly, that meant I can't trap anyone on the island.
  • My characters walk sometimes through buildings and over water while walking to job assignments only. I have never seen them to bridge more than 2 non-street tiles (except job assignments).

I'm very happy with my solution, because it can make a park or place crowded with characters.

Maybe EA will provide us with different street tiles that characters follow, like a dirt path, copple stone, etc. in the future...
  • This is a pretty neat trick to get people to walk through the cities a bit more, thanks for sharing. I think I'd be more inclined to do it if you could build decorations on streets though, that way you could blend the "paths" in a bit.
  • That is so clever, weatherfox! I love your botanical garden, by the way. Very nice work.
  • Very nice. I like the way you nestled a couple of your "non-cool" brown houses behind stores, and the bistro seating fenced off in the strip mall.

My characters not only enter bldgs to get to quest locations, they walk backwards! Thanks for the suggestion & images, Weatherfox.
  • The Strip Mall looks amazing, I think I may have to do something similar, really like how that looks!
