When visiting neighbors, if you see any cash above buildings... they haven't updated. Visit them later.

You can also tell if they haven't updated as you won't hear the little aliens teleporting into town when you first enter their town.

And I think you won't see how much ammo and stuff you have, it doesn't show up on non-updated towns
