Am I the only person here that actually knows how a "typical" software development process works? Why is every update on a Thursday? Because they have a process in place that involves a Thursday rollout. It's called having a targeted release date.
When you develop software, you don't just push out updates as they're ready...unless it's a showstopper. (Which is likely the update we saw a week or so ago that fixed the infinite donut glitch)
You wrap up a number of changes into a release, and roll that out at a scheduled time when your development team is ready to monitor it's progress and smoke test it.
