- How about to make it simple, we make it a SH contest, but people can choose whether to stitch together their whole SH (for those who know how to do it), or just feature one building/area. There can be two separate categories. And there can be a third category for the tunnel, if people really want that to be separate. I've actually been waiting for a SH design contest, since I'm pretty proud of mine.
- Bump to see if there's interest.
My thought was hosting a themed event with a title like "Springfield High Life." The idea is submissions would be substantial in size, something like the amount of land available in the Heights area. However, since not everyone has finished that area, the design could be in the contestant's main town. For instance, I've got neighbors with fantastic mansion row areas (hint: one of them started this thread), and those would be eligible.izabellatrix wrote:

I pushed for separate categories in the Terwilliger contest. Most people went with bigger designs anyway, and though there was an exceptionally large field of excellent entries, there wasn't enough variety to create separate categories. Still, I'd be happy again to consider it, and as long as I'm hosting, there will be space for 2D artwork, gifs, or whatever other kind of fun people come up with.
I'll leave plenty of time for people to stitch together their submissions, but I will need help with the badges as graphic design is not a skill I possess.

If people would rather a space theme or forest or Squid Port, now is the time to mention it! A simpler contest would be Town Hall: either the one building or a complex of buildings. - how about a ski area contest? my sf lake is there also. it'd be fun to see what others have come up with. winters almost over and the new items have probably have been placed by most tappers by now

Pinpal00 threatened to host a SF Heights Area contest post-Winter update. I like the idea, but see two issues: might be a little tough for people to stitch together the entire area - probably 16 screenshots or so to capture all of the land. I know many don't have the ability/knowledge to stitch themselves.
The other problem is that Pinpal shouldn't be the one hosting that contest - his heights design is truly amazing and must be included (but hosts don't participate in contests).
Didn't 4j3k express a desire to host a Monorail contest? Could be just the stations or the entire system, but again, lots of stitching for the latter.
I'd certainly be happy to host myself - we would just need to decide on subject matter and see if there'd be any interest. The speculated Space update might be a fun one . . .
I did.
And enough time has passed, ive seen several threads expressing completion had occurred and people comparing track count.
I'll start a new thread to outline the details and solicit participation. Here goes...

... OK done. IT'S ON! i hope the enthusiasm in this thread is an indication of how many participants there will be. I tried to add layers of difficulty to kick it up a notch! Let's see some creativity, people!! - brogames111New SpectatorAll great ideas! Love something SH's related! Different categories sounds perfect! I'm in!!

:) I think you folks are amazing! I can barely put my town together to look like a town, but even just the brainstorming that is happening on this thread makes a reader feel all the creative wheels turning. Would this be something a nonparticipating viewer would find on the showcase?
for the monorail contest i've posted the announcement thread AND the display thread in General Discussion.
This is to keep it at the forefront of the forum's attention during the event.
Once completed, I'll request the mods move it to Showcase to "save for posterity".
But hey, participation is EASY! Be sure to submit just a single screen shot of your favorite-est part of your rail!
