BMI's can't be trusted. They are notoriously inaccurate and can often lead to all sorts of body image issues. The best way to figure it out is to use a combination of figuring out what sort of body frame you have and then you calculate different areas like your neck to waist ratio. This is all combined with the BMI (if you can't do a fat caliper which is the best way to determine this).
BMI does not account for ethnic differences (like larger hips on ethnic women) and it often fails because of these variables.
Yes, nutrition and health is something I'm very passionated about. I've lost over 100 lbs in 2 years and it was all by learning to eat in moderation and running/hiking like a crazy person. I hike 30 miles a week and run 10 miles a week. I love hiking, it's my "me time" and often do 10 mile hikes out in the woods around my house.
