Not all Americans, my son is being taught the metric and decimal systems. He's going into the 5th grade. Just defending the American education system because some schools do teach both systems.
Every school teaches the basics of the metric system because nearly everyone else in the world uses it. But, there is nowhere near the emphasis and it doesn't stay relevant because none of their other lessons stress the use of it. Seriously, just pick any American at random and the chances are significantly high that they won't know how to transfer metric units.
I'm really not sure why anyone would want to defend the American school system...
As for the OP, don't pay attention to BMI charts. By the BMI standard, most pro athletes are considered overweight.
