What determines your "landing spot"?

This is my #1 nice-to-have feature I'd like added to the game. Setting my landing spot with the Present Depot was great, and I can't believe EA hasn't added this feature yet. I don't necessarily want a sign or any other object. Let me just select "Landing Zone" as a menu item and then tap the area of my town I want to land in. Heck, I'd even pay 10-20 donuts to enable the feature!
