What triggers the auto-upgrading campfire glitch?

Not sure what triggers it but I had a weird one this morning. I've been harvesting zombies to craft walls and I have been getting the camp fire level up regardless of what I need to get from the c...

I've experienced that my fire upgrades every 200 zombies, and skips ahead on whatever creature the campfire status bar is requesting, regardless of how many of those I've accumulated.

I'm at level 38 now, only spawning zombies for about a week.
