This is a very interesting event in terms of the strategy of attacking houses! I am going to stick to attacking random Springfields until I have won all of the prizes since the payout is so much higher - I've been able to accumulate gold quite quickly from defending alone, although there could be less attacks on my town as more and more people build their castles and become attackable.
My guess is the extra payout for random Springfields has been done to discourage players from creating their own extra 'feeder' towns and just attacking and defending from those towns only to maximize revenue.
The one thing I still haven't figured out is how the fractional payout works if someone defends your attack before the time completes - i.e. do you get a fixed percentage back or does it depend on how much of the time went by before the attack was defended.
