Why do I have such terrible luck with mystery boxes??

I've been trying everything I can to increase my multiplier. Right now, it's at 216.45%. Every time I save up 6 donuts, I try for the box because that seems to be what everyone says to do. Very annoyi...

OK... 4 more Chalmers Car, 2 Khlav khalash stands, 2 minnow ponds, 3 billboards, 2 ten donuts and another Lard Lad.

I'm spending like a hundred donuts and getting mostly crap, and a multiplier up by only a few percent! What am I doing wrong???
