Why do I have such terrible luck with mystery boxes??

I've been trying everything I can to increase my multiplier. Right now, it's at 216.45%. Every time I save up 6 donuts, I try for the box because that seems to be what everyone says to do. Very annoyingly however, I seem to get nothing but bomb shelters and khlav khalash stands!! It's soooo frustrating because I can't afford to buty donuts right now, and have to wait too long to farm cash before I can make more Kwik E Marts.

Other than the Beach Hideaways in SH, are the boxes still the best way to increase my multiplier?? Also, now that I have over 1 billion in SH real estate, is there any point left in gathering resources? Thanks for the help!! :) <3
  • I actually started playing a loooong time ago...definitely 2012, and possibly earlier. Then I went broke from school and couldn't afford a cell phone for 4 years. I only just got a new iPhone and tapped out again several months ago. In that time, I did ALL of Springfield Heights and got over a billion, levelled up to 235 from 60 or so without farming KEMs, doubled the size of my town, finished all Krustyland quests, got dozens of new characters and buildings (by spending an ungodly amount of real money....I don't want to know!).

Oh yeah, I also got all 3 monorail stations, 2 tunnels, and many dozens of track pieces. Still, my work is never done on that front. I need so many more pieces to have the monorail truly run through my town...yet the fact that I can only get around 11 pieces per week is slowing me down immensely :(
  • I started when the game was released for Android, and for most of that time I had a low multiplier i.e. less than 200. Starting at Christmas, It took about 100 days of careful reinvestment to surpass 2000% after which managing more than 100% a day is easily possible.

The more you have the easier it is to make, boxes are an important stepping stone for the freemium player imho.

For the record, I've never benefitted from an serious exploit to help me.
  • That's insanely high, very nice :) I've spent so many hundreds on the game, my multiplier would be through the roof if I had only known what I was doing at the time :( I spent donuts mostly on premium characters and buildings. When I upgrade my final beach hideaway, I'll have 270.45%. Very low compared to you, of course, but hopefully it will help. My town is compact, built like a real city (ie. I only use roads and insist on laying it out properly instead of just plunking down buildings anywhere, even at the cost of space) and I have quite a lot of houses of all color (but mostly blue). I'm always needing money, even though I've gone through most of the quests given (at least I have no current quests except for the final level of Money Mountain). Just a few weeks ago, I had 45 active quests!! That was right after purchasing a bunch of premium stuff. Anyway, there's the insanely expensive Cecil stuff to do, but in general I just like to expand by purchasing more land, houses if possible, and new buildings - if I ever get them. There are only so many left, and none that I can see in the store (locked). Still, my cash is always short and my multiplier is the best way to remedy that, I assume.

I wish you guys could see my Springfield and tell me what you think, and if I made any layout mistakes or whatever. If you're on my friend list, it's Bomb319.

Thanks again you guys for all the advice :) It's much appreciated.
