For me it was cumulative total for the day i.e. a running total where if you don't hit it on the first day it gets added to the next. LPN has listed the running totals per day. I hit the total at 11,000 on day 4 and hit the total again today. EA is basically slowing players who play often down so we can't get too far ahead.

I just capped today at 13900+ for the 15860 prize of the Bank and Barber Shop.

I believe that the cap only includes the clues bought at the general store. The ones from bandits and earned from saloon jobs don't count. I am currently at 14685 and have over 5000 picks and hats that I can't do anything with until tomorrow. I would rather be able to be finished with the prizes early than have to wait each day to max out right away.
