No easy way @LisaSimpsonLFC - until it warns you - the warnings are usually 150 items apart so if you know you've been warned at least once you could go buy a load of something small and cheap until it warns you again then group store those items to check again later.
You could group select area after area and hit store so it says how many items in that patch and then cancel storing, but it'd be a right pain for a whole town plus making sure you didn't catch the edge of something twice or picking an item that can't be stored like Homer's house in the group
