Missing login button during startup
Ditto! The Origin button has disappeared. Perhaps when the server stops acting up it will reappear.

This happened to me a few days ago, as well. As much as it stinks, it IS FIXABLE -
What I did was went through the "tutorial" in the new town. Homer and Lisa start cleaning up, build the Simpson house, etc. Just continue with that (It only takes a few minutes), until the icon with Bart and Milhouse becomes active. Then you should be able to log in to your original town.
I'm not sure why it all happened in the first place, but this worked for me. Hope it helps you, too.
