It looks like you just get restack back up to 5 present each day.
So if you still have 4 present left at the end of the day then you will only get restack one more present so you are back to 5.


Another ting to notes about the presents.
Your own Springfield can only hold 5 presents from friends.

So if one of your friends has already dropped his/her 5 presents in your Springfield then your other friends can't drop presents in your Springfield until you have find (can be quite hard then they are behind buildings) and tapped the some of the presents dropped by the first friend

I always drop the presents in open areas, so they are easier for my friends to find them.
I will first get the reward for given the present then my friend has find and tapped them.
So where is no point in hiding them behind buildings.
