As for storing your castle...no one can store the castles during the event. They are the centerpieces of this event and therefore EA programmed them to not be allowed into storage. That might change once the event is over.
For your issue of buildings going back to their original place...sounds like your game is not syncing before you exit. I would try tapping the Bart & Millhouse button before you exit the game. Tapping that button forces your game to sync with the servers.
Could you maybe give us all here alittle more info as to what you mean by your buildings don't make much money anymore so we can understand that issue alittle better?
