So I uninstalled the game
I didn't uninstall by I have two games on one device and now I get that message every time the accounts are switched to play. Just happened with this last update.

- I had this problem once today on my Android tablet. All I did was to stop the process, and go back in. It was fine at that point. I've never gone deep into iOS devices, so I don't know if you can do that there, but if you can it should help out.
- It mostly had not sync with the Server which from your description would have happened
To the message of save on you other device click play (you don't have another device)
The next message, tap continue
You may lose anything since the last sync
Once in your town tap only 1 thing; then hit the neighbors button (Milhouse and Bart). This will force a sync
