I think your righteousness rating dropped because you don't vandalise buildings in your friends town. from experience I think cleaning up in your OWN town doesn't help that much but when you go out and vandalise buildings in your friends towns, your righteousness rating increases. it takes quite a number of friends to get your righteousness rating to 5 though.
