Career Mode Failings (Vent)

I love the career mode and it is honestly one of the main reasons I have gotten all 5 games. I am also a huge fan of BJJ and subs. That being said. Career mode in UFC 5 has MASSIVE failings.

1) Watching tape or promoting the fight almost guarantees you will not get enough fitness. If you have 5 weeks, you are champ, and it requires a 50 pt commit to promotion, you wont get enough. And also, promotion and tape watching lowers fitness.

2) The submission game is a joke. All unorthodox submissions ( The Platas, the Neckties, etc) are removed from the game. Submissions have now been turned in to a game of transition. Landing a sub is the same strategy as passing from full to half guard.

3) Some bonuses in BJJ training are impossible to receive. Two options they offer are "Orthodox" and "unorthodox" submissions for bonus experience... But as i previously mentioned... They dont exist. They are not listed in the fighters move set.

4) Bringing a pro in can freeze the game and cause it to crash. Some of the pros will have duplicate items to "learn". For example, two different fighters can teach Armbars, rear naked choke, triangles etc.. However one will say you learned it and the other will not. If you choose the one that says you havn't... Game freezes. To add to this, when befriending a pro, it will list moves and then they wont be there when you try to learn. For example Ovince Saint Preux says he teaches the Von Flue submission if you are using him as a connection, but when you go to invite him, its not there to learn.

5) For the first time, the AI trainers actively try to get you to fail. Training asks you to land body shots, the ai will constantly do take downs. Land leg kicks? Constant overhands that smash you up while you try. And my personal favorite... Submit from Bottom full guard. But they wont take you down so there is nothing to do but wait until they decide to do so.

Finally 6) the change of controls. Every game has had pretty much the same layout. But the addition of a spin modifier, changing R1 to an uppercut button and making all the things that used R1 now require multiple button presses... Im still having muscle mem issues throwing uppercuts instead of a spinning heel or doing takedowns instead of a body uppercut.

These are my 6 main gripes. The camera shifting is annoying at times but it doesn't happen enough to be a main concern. I do hope that these issues get fixed. Removing the clinch effectively from the game in 4 was bad... But at least it was playable.

That being said, I do like the punch card idea, actual fighters look good in fights, stoppages are legit, Now it just needs to be fixed up instead of being another EA Money Grab
