Make Ranked Points Make Sense Please

So 30 fights since the weekend... i start at 1747 points, go 24-5-1 and don't advance a single point.

Over those 30 fights I lost to a div20 player - lost 25 points there and then faced someone who was hosting yet had a suspicious lag (20 points lost there). 

Why do hard fought wins get 2 to 12 (12 is rare) points but two losses -one against a great player and one against a probable cheater - set points back 50+ points? Even a draw I lost 6 points. Unless you face a top ten player the point loss is unbelievable. 

So frustrating.  

What is the rationale behind this? 

The 3.5 or 4 star vs 5 star thing doesn't apply anymore. It's baffling.
