I'm playing Career on the long event setting, which I'm loving. It took a while to find an AI difficulty that works, but now I have it's great. Unfortunately, there are 1-2 stages each event where I suddenly win by 2+ minutes, making the overall event difficulty minimal. I think this may be due to how the AI handle tyre wear or something? It's ruining the fun of career mode when a close battle suddenly becomes a dominant win.
same problem, i was at 85 difficulty and i started being 2minutes faster for every stage, i tried to put max level difficulty (100) and i'm still faster (5 to 10 second) without even driving good and clean.
I spent many hours in the Career and It happen randomly, it seems that the AI suffers pretty insane level of variability between stages and this problem it's even worse on the long event setting, it happen many times that in some stages they are competitive, and then suddenly I can win a stage by more than a minute even at max difficulty.
It's a shame because this problem completely ruins all the fun of the Career, even with the difficult set at 100.

Same here. My 2min 23s stage win occurred in career mode, driving the H2 FWD Peugeot 309 on Rally Chile (Historic FWD Global). Second to last stage. I had been driving on 95% AI and winning a couple of stages marginally.
I have the same problem here, I've tried ai 70-95 and they all have the same problem. a couple of races go really well and then it drops completely
to zero. I hope that EA notice this in the first update. The carreer mode is currently unplayable.

Summarize your bug 2nd time in a row AI difficulty visible has bugged out. Same scenario both times. WRC Junior championship Croatia and Italy event till now. 1stage in both events were as Normal. Driving AI 85 difficulty, couple seconds ahead if run is clean, 10s+ behind depending on my driving. Both times I closed games after 1st stage. Force close game app at Croatia, and properly exited game in Italy after stage 1. And after that Stage 2 and onwards for that event AI drives 2-3 min slower than me every stage, and I am not great driver. Feels like AI bugs out to 0 AI difficulty, I move AI slider back and forth between stages to 85%, but nothing changes. After event is finished it will ho back to normal.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Close game after Stage 1. And continue event next time opening game with stage 2.
What happens when the bug occurs? AI drives very very slowly by time table.I would expect AI to finish race at 85 dificulty around 5min 30 sec, but it finishes around 7 min 40s+
What do you expect to see? AI driving times doesnt change in middle of event by itself.
Agreed. First few stages in Junior WRC Sweden was great fun about 15 seconds behind the leader on 95 difficulty with a couple mistakes in the stages. Then suddenly 2 minutes quicker per stage because of what must be an AI bug. Completely ruined the experience.
