Hello,
I am experiencing the same issue as many other users: when I launch the game, it immediately returns to the desktop without any visible gameplay or action.
I even went as far as reinstalling Windows entirely, suspecting that the WRC 24 expansion pack might have caused file corruption during installation. However, it seems the issue originates on your end.
Additionally, I do not understand why it is not possible to uninstall this expansion pack directly from the game.
This malfunction severely impacts the user experience, and the lack of options to manage expansions makes it even more frustrating.
Could you please provide a solution as soon as possible, ideally in the form of a patch? Alternatively, a simple option to disable or uninstall non-functional expansions would already be an improvement.
Thank you for urgently considering this feedback, as it is disappointing to encounter such issues with products from a company of your size and reputation.
Best regards,

They won't hurry to fix this, I've not seen one meaningful reply from @EA_Groguet EA have our money and that's all that seems to matter to them.
Some people have not been able to play since the 1.9 patch and still no solution, so don't hold your breath for a fix.

Today my win 11 got a big update, and guess what?
Nothing changed, the game is still unplayable. Come on EA fix it this year.
- 4 months ago@boulbasar Same here, updated Windows 11 and still no change in the game not launching.

So @EA_Groguet what's the latest update? Your lack of feedback doesn't fill me with confidence that you are taking this matter seriously. This thread has nearly 200 comments from your dissatisfied and angry customers that have all paid for EA to ruin our game and not provide any reassurance that a fix is on the way.

I gave up ... uninstalled WRC24 and will never install it again - wasn't able to play it for weeks now although I paid a lot of money.
In addition I will neither buy any game from EA in the future nor from steam as they will not refund as I had the game for too long (played only 16 hours due to the stutter desaster on a 5800X3D/RTX4090 combo during the first few month).
In addition I still have to blame EA for the wrong advertisment of triple screen support that never made it into the game. - EA_Groguet3 months ago

Hi there,
First of all, I wanted to apologise for the frustration this is causing you. I really appreciate your patience while the team is looking into this matter.
The team continues to investigate the issue and it is trying to reproduce it.
One of the things they are interested in is whether you are using any third-party apps (e.g., AutoHotkey, JoyToKey, etc.). If you are, can you please provide the name of the app you are using?
Thank you,

Thank you for still caring. I seriously wonder why you investigate into third-party apps since the conflict seems to be caused by changed windows code?
I am not using any third-party apps since I was under the impression that it isn't possible anymore after the introduction of anticheat. So I did not try to use Reshade although I would have liked to, FYI.
I don't even use any AV software apart from Windows defender, I do use DNS filtering though.
- 3 months ago@EA_Groguet I'm not using any third party apps, launching from the EA app. As previously stated, the game worked perfectly before the update.

As @chichi1967 Steam don't want to refund me!
The problem arrived at the same time with the antishit system - 3 months ago
After updating windows 10 to KB5046613 the game works again for me.

Sadly, despite the update, I still have the same issue ☹️( (even on F124)

KB5046617 (24H2 Build 26100.2314) - 3 months ago

Windows 11 Version 23H2 für x64-basierte Systeme (KB5046633)

I found solution on reddit that may work, try to add -dx11 to launch options but game may have stutters.
- 3 months ago@EA_Groguet No third party app usage here. Launching directly from the EA App, and the boot sequence heads back to desktop around the Codemasters logo.

I tried all the methods what was suggested in the forum and nothing didn’t work for me.
This might sound funny, but it helped to me.
I removed the GPU from the computer and put the GPU back in, turned on the PC and tried to run the WRC game and everything now works.
Maybe it will be useful for someone. - 3 months ago
CREDITS: many thanks to JDMane that finally solved this issue. All the credits goes to him, I'm here just to spread the good news.
NOTE: should works for every version not launching after the anti-cheat release.
SYMPTOM: the program crashes immediatly after the so-called splash screen but BEFORE EA intro video. Doesn't solve CTD related to any other reason of course.
REASON WHY: The EA anti-cheat program need to be installed to the default path "your local disk:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/EA SPORTS WRC". If Steam and or the game is installed in another directory as in my case, the anti-cheat will not be detected by the program and, as a result, the game cannot be launched.
SOLUTION (quite simple, indeed): You need to move the Steam installation folder along with your games; note that if you have more than one disk in your pc as usually happens you can choose what you want (i.e. the one with more space for storage), and there's no need at all to install in the same system disk, except you have other specific reasons to do so.
So follow these steps:
1- be sure you exit/close from Steam app, then go to the folder where Steam is installed on your PC, for example: C:\Games\Steam\
2- delete everything inside the folder EXCEPT for steamapps folder and its content, userdata folder and its content, Steam.exe program (don't worry, all the needed files will be reinstalled next time Steam will be launched again)
3- Cut and paste the entire Steam folder to a new location "your choosen disk":\Program Files (x86)\Steam, i.e. D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam (where Steam folder should include steamapps, userdata and Steam.exe)
4- Launch Steam and log in. Steam will update and you will be able to log in. If EA WRC is already installed, please verify files, after which you can launch it; otherwise reinstall it again. Note: verify files also for all your already installed Steam games before launching them again.

Crash on Start up issue
Hello everyone,
Is there anyone else who still has the crash on start-up issue mostly because of the easy anti cheat since the 1.9.0? I've tried all solutions such as moving my steam and WRC into my main drive where Easy anti cheat is, verifying, reinstalling but i'm still having the same issue. Everything thing is up to date on my PC so i doubt that is the issue mainly just codemasters being useless and not fixing important issue. Any help is appreciated although i don't have much hope because code masters are a bunch of useless * - EA_Groguet3 months ago

Hey there,
Thank you all for your responses. This issue keeps being investigated. It seems that some players who are using Windows 10 have fixed the issue by installing the update KB5046613.
As soon as I have more details I will update it here.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am on Windows 11, latest updates, all drivers up to date, running from the EA App NOT Steam. F1 24 works fine but still the same issue with WRC 24. I believe that they share the same anti cheat. WRC was working perfectly before the 2024 DLC.

What was meanwhile posted in a few forum threads:
It helps to add the option -dx11 as startoption in steam on windows 11 - of course this adds a lot of stutter and it is not playable again or at least no fun.As I still se the issue for
EAAntiCheatService
Failed to obtain Origin directoryin the events it looks like this is not the real reason for WRC to 'crash'/not work.
I use the default location of the steam folder and it doesn't work without the -dx11 startoption on the Win11 24H2. - 3 months ago
Was hoping installing update KB5046613 on Windows 10 would finally resolve this issue, but alas even after this update applied, game will still not launch. Crashes after EA WRC small Splash screen (before game goes full screen).
The ONLY fix I have found (after trying many of them in this thread), is to delete the file contents of:%UserFolder/AppData/Local/WRC/Saved
(delete the three files starting with D3D characters)
If I delete these before launching the game, it works.
This issue ONLY occurred after install the 2024 DLC package. I can't believe I have paid for this "upgrade" and it is still not resolved. I wish I never purchased this. I want to love this game but the graphic stuttering and now this makes it impossible to recommend.
