Thank you all for your responses. This issue keeps being investigated. It seems that some players who are using Windows 10 have fixed the issue by installing the update KB5046613.
As soon as I have more details I will update it here.

I am on Windows 11, latest updates, all drivers up to date, running from the EA App NOT Steam. F1 24 works fine but still the same issue with WRC 24. I believe that they share the same anti cheat. WRC was working perfectly before the 2024 DLC.
What was meanwhile posted in a few forum threads:
It helps to add the option -dx11 as startoption in steam on windows 11 - of course this adds a lot of stutter and it is not playable again or at least no fun.
As I still se the issue for

Failed to obtain Origin directory
in the events it looks like this is not the real reason for WRC to 'crash'/not work.
I use the default location of the steam folder and it doesn't work without the -dx11 startoption on the Win11 24H2.
