WRC VR. Anisotropic filtering bugged or reversed.

I believe this setting in game is bugged out or is working the opposite way.

With the setting on x16 the VR image is all fuzzy and static like a old tv station. With this setting off, the image becomes much cleaner.

I thought AF should make things less fuzzy.

Something must be wrong here, i have never seen this in any other VR game.

Using Quest 3 link cable and AMD 6900xt gpu

  • Something is wrong with AF in VR on PC. It does the opposite of what it's supposed to do, causing extreme flickering as you increase it. Turning it to 16x is literally unplayable. Turn it off and it's a much better experience. It should be the opposite.

    OP, when you say the image is all static-y, do you mean like the entire image, or just the track?

    Because I went from 8x to off, and the only major thing I noticed is the track is now just blurry instead of grainy. So both seem to be bad in their own way.

    I'm on a 6800xt and PSVR2

    Yeah grainy would be a better word.
    The track for sure, and the trees, the trees might just be AA though

  • The AF in game create too excessive detailing on textures, and because that bring more artifacts than clarity on VR gameplay.

    The solution is easy: AF 4x, and uses the code on engine.ini, for create more sharpening in textures.

    r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.25 (values for 0.0 a 2.0 its acceptable.

    For VR gameplay I made a big guide than helped some guys. Link below.
