Could not rejoin game

I loaded into a ranked match with my friends, when I landed my game crashed and upon restarting I could not rejoin the game. I had no option to rejoin at all and was stuck on the menu waiting for them. About halfway through the match, I got an abandon game penalty and they were still in the game. They gained elo and I lost elo for the game. I feel like I shouldn't have lost elo since I couldn't rejoin.
