Thanks for the posts and reports! We've been seeing this pop up for some others as well and are currently taking a look at the situation.

Added two players in-game to my friends list who are both on Steam. Went on Apex today and saw that they, too, have disappeared from my friends list. Looks like, for me at least, that it's not only affecting cross-play friends, but all friends in some way, shape or form.
