Mouse cursor can only moves down/right when Apex Legends is running

Description:

It's unusual but I've been playing Apex Legend exclusively with a Wacom Intuos Pro M (2017) tablet. I simply set it in mouse mode, so it emulates a mouse (it can be seen in the mouse and pointer windows settings) and this has always worked perfectly. But I haven't played the game for two weeks, and when I came back, my  tablet no longer works correctly in Apex Legends.
At some point when the game is loading (during the intro sequence), the mouse cursor suddenly becomes restricted to moving only downward and right. Movement up or left is completely ignored.

  • The issue starts as soon as Apex begins loading (intro sequence) and continues as long as the game is open.
  • If I switch to other applications while Apex is running, the problem persists system-wide until I close Apex.
  • The behavior does not affect a regular mouse or controller input.
  • The issue occurs only in Apex Legends – I tested several other games (Valorant, Portal, Mecha Break and TABG (that also uses EAC)), and they all work perfectly.
  • Disabling fullscreen or launching the game in safemode, did not help.
  • Downgrading or reinstalling the Wacom driver (including older versions on which it worked) did not help either.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Connect a Wacom Intuos Pro M (2017) tablet and set it to mouse mode (I think any wacom tablet can have the same issue).
  • Launch Apex Legends (any display mode).
  • Move the cursor in circles during the intro sequence, and a few seconds after the start of the intro sequence, the cursor stops moving up or left.

System information:

Tablet: Wacom Intuos Pro M (2017)
Driver versions tested: 6.4.11-1 (latest) and 6.4.10-3 (older)
OS: Windows 10, version 22H2
Game version: October 2025 patch (latest)

Notes:

This issue appeared only after the most recent Apex update. It likely relates to how the game initializes or captures mouse input, possibly conflicting with Wacom’s mouse-mode driver. The fact that it affects the tablet's mouse mode system-wide while Apex is running suggests the game or anti-cheat alters system-wide pointer handling.
